Channel palpation and point location workshop
This one day workshop is an opportunity for practitioners and students to hone their channel palpation techniques under the supervision of one of Dr. Wang Ju-Yi’s apprentices. We will go over each of the 6 channel-organ systems and the Du and Ren Mai and discuss the findings and how to interpret their meanings. We will also practice Dr. Wang’s point locations which allow for more effective treatments with fewer needles.

ACT Mentorship program: an exploration of Point Categories
Dr. Wang Ju-Yi’s lifetime of curiosity as a clinician and historian culminated in his development of Applied Channel Theory which revived ancient diagnostic techniques that he applied clinically to deepen his understanding of channel theory. This new ACT Mentorship Program will be a deep dive into the physiology and pathophysiology of the 6 levels and how to meld the theory with the palpation to decipher channel findings and formulate clear diagnoses and treatment strategies. The instructors are all apprentices of Dr. Wang and this course is designed to provide students and practitioners with a similar experience of absorbing and integrating the teachings over time. The year long series includes 5 classes and each class includes a 1 hour online follow-up group call to answer questions and discuss cases. This is a great opportunity to get feedback and clarification from each of the instructors to support your learning during the year.
This online course will take place on Sundays June 15 and June 29, 2025, 9-12 EST. This is the first class in the ACT Mentorship Program and will cover the anatomy and natures of the Yuan, Luo, Xi and 5 Shu points. Having this strong foundation in the characteristics of the point categories will help practitioners and students develop trust in the points and their ability to influence the physiology of the channels.

ACT Mentorship Program: clinical Treatment Strategies
This is the 5th and final course in the ACT Mentorship Program where we will discuss how to differentiate clinical symptoms, locate the channel with the disease and learn the various methods Dr. Wang Ju-Yi used to select the appropriate channel to treat. There will be case study discussions as well as live treatments to demonstrate the process from intake, tongue, pulse and channel diagnosis to channel and point selection. Similar to jazz, the strong foundation in classical theory will allow practitioners to improvise in their clinics and create innovative treatments in response to each unique patient.
This series is designed to simulate the mentorship experience and provide the support that participants need to immerse themselves in Applied Channel Theory and trust the amazing capacity of the channels to heal disease. This approach to clinical strategies results in simple yet focused treatments that yield positive results with fewer needles.

Applied Channel Theory Level 1: An Introduction to Channel Physiology and Palpation
Dr. Wang Ju-Yi’s Applied Channel Theory provides a framework based in classical Chinese medicine theories to help practitioners better understand the physiological mechanisms that are contributing to their patients’ health concerns. This approach gives practitioners practical skills that help us decipher patient symptoms and guide us towards clear diagnoses and treatments. This two day course will introduce students and practitioners to the foundations of channel physiology in the 6 levels and channel palpation techniques through interactive lectures and hands-on practice. It’s a great opportunity to learn a new diagnostic tool that you can bring back to your practice to help streamline your treatments. Your instructor for the weekend will be Nyssa Tang, one of Dr. Wang’s apprentices.

Finding Balance
Colleen Ho’s ripped paper drawings evoke the rhythms found in music and nature. Using only a thumbtack, she creates precise rips on the paper surface and the tactile nature of her work draws you in close and encourages you to slow down and take it in. Her work is currently being shown at The Shirley Project Space in Brooklyn until December 8, 2024. On Novemeber 9th, Colleen will be in conversation with Nyssa Tang about the overlapping themes in her work and in Chinese medicine.

Applied Channel Theory in practice: Grand Rounds
This will be a day-long class where Nyssa Tang will demonstrate ACT treatments on 4 volunteer patients and show the process from intake, channel examination and diagnosis to treatment. This will hopefully be an ongoing offering and each date will center around a particular system. For October 27th, the focus will be on treating gynecology. Class size will be limited to 10 participants.
Participants: Licensed acupuncturists (7 CEUs), priority will be given to practitioners who have the basic foundations of ACT.
Tuition: $300. Payment in full is required to save a spot in this class.
